Irish, 1998-

I spent 3.5 years in finance (Bank of Ireland, then AIB) and qualified as a financial adviser. I was good at it. But I didn't want to advise on decisions, I wanted to shape things. So I left a stable path to find out if that instinct was real.

It was. I studied product design at NCAD in Dublin, with six months at Politecnico di Milano. Since then, a year designing for AnyPCT in Copenhagen, six months as a design engineer at Arup, and my own studio, IVAN.projects, built from nothing, alongside a long trail of personal ventures.

The finance years taught me discipline. Everything since has taught me what to do with it.
